If the change was sudden, or on one side
Do not book a cosmetic consultation first. A mouth corner that has dropped over hours or days, weakness on one side of the face, numbness, drooling, difficulty closing an eye or a mouth, or a change in speech needs medical assessment. Where any of that comes with weakness in a limb, difficulty swallowing or a sudden severe headache, emergency care is the right route rather than a clinic appointment.
Arranging an ordinary assessment
Where the fold has developed gradually and there is none of the above, appointments are made through the hospital outpatient line or through the appointment service described on the appointments page. Say that you are asking about the lower face so that the right clinic time is booked. If you are travelling from outside Chongqing, say so when you book, because the assessment can sometimes be arranged alongside any dental opinion in fewer visits.
What to bring
Bring a record of any treatment you have had in this area, with the dates and what was used, because the lower face accumulates material over the years and the total matters. Bring a list of your current medicines and allergies, any dental or orthodontic records, and photographs of your face from different years, which are more useful than a description for showing what has changed and how quickly.
What happens at the consultation
Expect an examination rather than a presentation. The fold is looked at at rest and in movement, the jawline and the tissue above it are assessed, the profile and chin projection are examined, the bite is checked and a dental opinion arranged where it contributes, and previous treatment in the area is recorded. You should leave knowing which mechanism dominates, what the options are, and what each of them does and does not change.
